The Financial Technology (FinTech) industry is thriving globally today. 

Despite uncertainties and disruption from COVID-19, the industry has exhibited resilience and is expected to recover quickly post-pandemic due to the accelerated digitalisation and growth of financial services. Just last year alone, $16.8 billion was invested into FinTech globally. 

With a strong ecosystem of global players recognizing the benefits FinTech can bring about, approximately 65% of the FinTech funding in Southeast Asia was directed to businesses in Singapore.  From there, several initiatives were established by public and private sectors to encourage innovation and to test out new financial services initiatives. 

As the demand for professional financial services increases, jobs such as blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, cybersecurity and machine learning will become more visible. Oliver Wyman’s 2020 study reveals that 83% of the FinTechs have plans to hire new employees in the next 6 months, indicating a shift in employment trends in the financial landscape.

To support the FinTech ecosystem, public and private sectors have come together to provide resources to propel the industry forward. Job portals and directories, platforms and opportunities for FinTechs to showcase their ideas as they stay up-to-date and adapt to newer trends to stay relevant.
